Jet d’eau GenfA high speed fountain

Since 1951 this fountain has been the landmark of Geneva. Two pumps with a total output of approx. 1000 kw carry the water up to 140 meters in the direction of the sky. It ejects 500 litres of sea water per second at a speed of 200 km / h. At twilight, the Jet d'eau is lit with high-power spotlights.

  • Originally built as an overpressure valve for the pressurized water supply line for the jeweller machines
  • The water of the jet, which is constantly in the air, weighs over five tons

Jet d'eau served as a model for many other fountains.
